So... I am not feeling great right now. I am tired of all this...

Dude, you are need of some help here! I'll admit that we all had our fair share of rainy days, but geez - you make it sound like the end of the world is near. You are still young with a bright future. There will be other girls. Stick with your band - it seems to be something that you really love - finish out in your senior year. Try to end on a high note if you can (pardon the pun).

It simply comes down that I don't want you to try to pull something like this.

If you need somebody to spill your beans to or a shoulder to cry on - please feel free to PM or e-mail me. It will be kept between me, you and the fence post.

Plans after college... Well, I would like to go to a decent engineering school for EE major... but I don't know if it will work out well. I feel better now... played some videogames for relaxation. lol I just start to feel bad occasionally because I see everyone happy with their gf and miss that a lot... of course it was really hard to be happy with her with all the things she said... but still, it was better than nothing. Anyway... off topic. Umm, college... dunno where to go. Probably won't succeed as EE major, but hey, it would be nice.

My friends all have girlfirends... and they have no time for me, so I have no one to hang with. My usual night consists of staring at this forum, the DIYaudio forum, HeadWize, and Head-Fi. That is all I can do to pass the time... posting is slowing down... things to do are running out. I just need someone to talk to that is near me and actually cares... (hard to find at my school- I am not well liked, though I am at the same time. It is a very complex situation. They all like me but won't talk to me... I dunno...) time for class now.

trust me.. girlfriends arent THAT wonderful, although normal friends are.. find one or two good ones you're all set.

fortunatly for me i'm insanely well liked... and was blessed with 3 people that i could tell ANYTHING to. although for a while, i couldnt confide in anyone at all.. that was painful. then a kid moved here (i'm pretty sure god worked that out) and i could really talk to him.. ah yes...

TPG.. you dont have anyone that you can confide in?

Totally - my best friends car broke down (very long story), but it turns out that he needs a new mass air flow sensor and the part is $450!!! and labor and tax will bring the total to $600!!! - he just bought a new car (its used, but a 2nd car for him) and the $$$ for the repair was mod money. When he called ma and told me about it, I was tryelt upset. When my brothers head gasket went out, I laughted my *** off for days.

My brother did it and he's no rocket scientist. Well, now he actually is.lol No matter what you decide to take, college is the most fun you will ever have in your life. A whole new crowd of people, new friends, and LOTS of women. If I could live any period in my life over again, that would be it! Glad you're feeling better.

You don't know that until you try! You may very well surprise yourself and even find it a very rewarding experience in pursuing that degree. I know from my own experience that my Computer Science degree was not exactly a walk through the rose garden (and having attended Basic and AIT for the Army, along with the ever present threat of being deployed to the Gulf during that war did not exactly help things). I kept at it and even graduated Cum Laude (with honors). I even managed to finish it in the 4 years (did not have to go that fifth year).

If an EE degree is what you are after, than by all means, at least try it. If in the end you find it is not for you, you can still switch majors, i.e., a comp sci or math or some other related field that is close.

Unless you choose to be an engineering major, then you will spend so much time studying you'll miss out on the real college experience. Plus most engineering schools have bad male/female ratios. 5.gif

I started in a double major as a EE and CS and that lasted two years, just kicked my butt. It really wasn't what I enjoyed anyway, I graduate next year with an econ degree. Mostly stats and stuff, way more my kinda thing. Just take classes that interest you and see where it takes you.

Garymd,

boy, it's funny how different the same experience can be for different people. For me, college was absolutely the most *AWFUL* 4 years I'd experienced (up to that point, anyway...)

Rensselaer Polytech in Troy as a physics major, mid 70's. 4000 men and 75 women. Worst winter snowstorms I can remember. Old, antiquated OChem labs a long, cold drugerous walk across campus through miserable weather at ungodly hours of the morning. Homework that took me 'til 3AM most every night to finish. Hockey players who were the prima donnas of the school who thought it was the funniest thing in the world to fill an old trash can with beer and lean it against the door to your dorm room so that when you opened the door in the morning you were greeted by 30 gallons of stale warm beer sloshing into your bed, clothes, books and papers.

I would never, ever, *EVER* want to relive that experience again.

JasNooB - We didn't miss your irony comment. Sorry to hear 'bout that!

Ray - I'm sure the warm beer escapade was one you heard about, or happened to a friend, right (I hope)? :) :)

I'll just give my college/work speech: First, figure out what kind of life you want to have -- where you want to live, what kind of cars you want to drive, what kind of homes you want to own, what kind of vacations (and how many) you want to take, how many years you want to work. Then determine how much income it will take for that lifestyle, then get about doing whatever it takes to make it happen. Whether you like the work or not is irrelevant -- you'll learn to love that which gets you your goals/dreams. The phrase "you've got to love what you do" is 100% correct, but they forget to say "but you don't have to love it when you start - you can learn to love it."

JMO, of course 1.gif

Ray - You just went to the wrong school and.... PHYSICS? What did you expect? I couldn't have passed a physics class if my life depended on it. I went to Frostburg State College in beautiful western Maryland although it snowed in October and that first layer didn't melt until April. Sometimes we didn't see the sun for 3 weeks! More girls than guys it seemed. Business and Economics double major in 4 years with summer classes ('78 to '82). Met my wife there too. Sorry your experience wasn't good (only 75 women - did you know this before signing up?). Everyone I keep in touch with from my college days feels the same way I do. So Trespasser - The moral of the story is: look carefully before deciding what school and what curiculum. Most importantly, have fun! But still get your studying done. If you treat it like a full time job - 8 to 5, you will have lots of time to meet people and have fun and party. Keep us posted. We'll be here to give any advice we can.

Jas- sorry to hear that. I must say, freshman girls do not know what they are doing. Avoid them.

College being fun... well, my dad just told me I couldn't go where I wanted to go because he thought it was a party school and that it costed too much anyway... odd for the guy who says if it is quality, get it. Well... right now I am in a time of not caring. Ph well is all I can say to that. I need something to do...

All colleges, except for Rensselaer Poytech in Troy, are party schools!!! You get out if it what you put into it. I partied my a$$ off at Frostburg but still graduated with honors. Don't fret. You'll have fun at just about any school (except for Rensselaer Polytech).9.gif

I just finished my last final today and am now done with my junior year!!!! unfortunately my summer class starts on Monday so I can't party too much. Taking class in the summer will blow, but it's about the only way to get out in four years anymore. It seems everyone else is on the five year plan. I know people tell me that "you have your whole life to work, why are you so anxious to get out of school and start working now?" Well it's quite simple, I want k-horns. My crappy part time job is not cutting it as far as increasing my Klipsch collection goes. Other than that, it feels awesome to be done with the semester and I can't wait for the summer months, where I'll be able to work more and finnaly be able to afford the SVS.

You will have your whole life to acquire and enjoy Khorns and any other stereo equipment you long for. You only have a short time to enjoy all of those pretty, young, and adventurous co-eds that are so abundant in school. Believe me, when you are 35, and locked away in some cubicle, you will be longing for the days when you could hang with some of those girls that you are going to be avoiding by entering the workforce.

Wishing I was on Campus,

Gary
