J M O N Posted June 2, 2003 Share Posted June 2, 2003 The "scratchy crossover" is possibly a dirty potentiometer on his preamp/receiver. From the photo I was able to see, the condition seems to be very nice. They are worth what you offered, but if there is something wrong, then try going on the lower end of that range. The speakers are not going anywhere so I have plenty of time to purchase them ...this is a good thing because coming up with an extra $1500 out of the blue is a little tough!
