lynnm
Serial numbers KCBR 18X929 and KCBR18X930. That fits because they lack the riser and the fancy veneers of the more expensive B models. The finish appears to be Birch stained to a dark maple colour. Drivers: Left speaker - Tweeter K77 Mid K 55 V Woofer - I ain't going to open that box unless I have to! Right Tweeter K77 M Mid K55 V Woofer see above And the sound takes my breath away. Edited to correct an error re: mid driver description ( see post below)
formica
Yup that seems to make sense... (KC) Klipsch Corner (BR) Birch Raw (X) 1982 ... original owner must have stained and finished them. I don't remember which year you had posted previously but does it jive? Hmmm... seeing that your hunt was successful... I might try as well once I've actually built my music / HT room enjoy... Rob PS: i think you made a typo on the second Mid... K 55 V

jhawk92
Lynn- I said the same thing about not opening the dog house door, but I did want to see what was inside. Glad I did, as the "weatherstripping" had cracked and was basically useless. So I spent a couple bucks and bought some at Home Depot to replace it. Not really sure if that will help the sound any, but since I was giving them some good care and feeding, I figured why not. Besides, it was really cool to investigate the interior, verify the AlNiCo magnets, etc. And you could plant a small time capsule in there, have your grandkids open it up when they get the speakers. If you do remove the door, be careful and hold the door as you undo the last screw, as the wiring from the woofer to the door isn't long enough for the door to fall flat on the floor. There is enough to move it off to the side, but there is only about 6-8" of play there.
