whell
What do you all make of this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3045368948&category=33205 Obvioulsy the verbage in the ad is designed to intrigue. But is the idea behind this sound?
rtaylor
A friend of mine has been using the very same cable set up for over a year now but we've both been too busy for a sit down. I don't want to be a closed minded individual but the feeling I get is a fool and his money are soon parted. Then again you won't see me buying two hundred dollar cables either. justin_tx_16
Accoustic Research makes those now... or was it someone else?... It is in stereophile magazine as an advertisement though. They use AA batteries.
rtaylor
Kevin's are 9 volt, again I have not heard these but the thought leaves me cold.
mike stehr
"These wires are surrounded by a thick copper foil shield that is electrically charged by a nine volt battery. This creates a positive field around the wires preventing any signal loss." I'd like to find a write-up of Thorsten's explaining how this works. Wouldn't the shield with the postive field interfere with the signal wire? I guess as long as the signal wire has a good insulator. Strange..... Daddy Dee
Well, I'm proud to say I haven't been tempted at all to try these out. I'd like to hear the engineer types drop in on this thread.
maxg
Synergistic have had this technology for both interconnects and power cables for a while. A friend of mine has them and swears by them. Of course their advertising has nothing to do with his choice...
whell
If the model comes with the cable, they've got a sale here.
ZAKO
How did they get a picture of my wife?
sunnysal
I understnad there are two different approaches currently; One charges the dialectric in order to reduce/eliminate the electrical interaction between the signal carrying conducter and the insulating material. The other claims to create an electrical shield using a layer of conducting material positioned outside both the inner conducter and the first insulation/dialectric layer. I have synergistic speaker cables which have the added shield layer. I believe the new audioquset cables use the pre-charged dialectic layer system. All of it is facinating and I suspect in a few years one or both systems will become the norm in cabling. I like the sound of my "active" speaker cables. regards, tony
rtaylor
Hi Tony, great reply! Although I believe that cables are cables and a good set won't set you back more than a dollar or so. Did you ever receive the tubes sent to you? Randy
sunnysal
no randy nothing arrived here...when were they sent? do you have an awb#? let me know, tony

sunnysal
uh-oh...I will check with the mail forwarder to see what happened, but a month normally means "we lost it"...grrr....thanks so much though for the generous gift and I will let you know what I find out. tony
