kiddo
What is the opinion of Klipsch's KW-12 out there? I have seen a few reviews/opinions re the RSW but none regarding the KW series.
kiddo
That should be RW not KW. I think I've shorted out my brain trying to decide on a sub!
formica
It's simply because the RW subs are the new kid on the block... introduced to correct many of the previous KSW subs shortcomings. The RSW remain the top-of-the-line subs for klipsch. The RW subs haven't been around very long (summer 2003) so the "official" reviews haven't trickled out yet, but do a search on here... Many members have posted their impressions and they will give you a general idea of what it's capable of. Later... Rob
love_hertz
when i bought my system i looked at both the rs-12 and the rsw-12. rs-12 was alot more affordable, but the rsw-12 kicked its a**, so if your asking me for advice save a little bit of money opt for the rsw-12. more power is better. ygmn
I listened to both the RW 12 and RSW 12 and went with the less $$$ RW12....it sounded good and allowed me some change left over to save for more speakers sooner....
TheEAR
The RW12 is a competent little inexpensive sub, does the job and will satisfy most HT fanatics(unless used in a large room). The RSW12 is a clear class above, mpre punch, cleaner bass and much better built quality(the cabinet, woofer, amp). SO if you get a good deal and can spare the change the RSW12 is a clear winner. kiddo
A little more info and a question... The 'plan' for the HT is: Denon AVR 1804 K RB-35s K RC-35 K RCR-5s Sub ?????? Room is 22 x 25 with 12' ceiling. Tile floor/lots o windows--room is bright. I need to be able to fill the room, but budget is $600 or less for the sub. Anything to stay away from?? HSU VTF-2, POLK 505, RW-12, SVS 25-31 as previously rec. by InnovaZero all look good. I am trying to focus down the options--opinions/advice???? TheEAR
Try any of the ones you listed and if you dont like it ELIMINATE and to the next.Start with the Polk and Klipsch you can audition before buying. This way you dont like you eliminate, and you can bring them home from the store set them up. Make sure you can return them if they would not meet you bass craving. There is no perfect sub,the SVS is the most potent but also the most expensive and BIG.The SVS powered unit sells for $549 plus shipping so it will be at the limit of your set budget.Worth it? You bet, your room is large and a large sub you should get. Just my two cents(worth much more)!
kiddo
Gave the Polk 505 an ear tonight. First couple of clasic rock songs were tight. Really rumbled on metallica's "Enter Sandman". My neophyte ears could not distinguish the difference between low, low rumble and distortion? Also seemed just a hair behind the highs in timing...will listen to rw-12 and rsw-12 next... thanks again for the advise...learning... TheEAR
How can bass be timed with highs.LOL Bass deep bass cannot be as fast as the upper registers, any woofer will be slower as compared to a midrange and even more so a tweeter. Just my two cents(worth a bundle more)
Danartdis
Your room is pretty big. I personally think that $600 and under isnt going to cut it in a room that size. But as I am sure you have heard, no matter what the price point, your best bang for the buck is probably SVS. Good luck. Let us know what you decide.
