Just got back from Texas Chansaw Massacer, speaker related:

This was a 350 seat theater, with VERY high ceilings. The speakers in this one were 2-way JBL 4000 series. I have the bass cabinet as my subwoofer. Not only were the sounds VERY loud, but they were clean, and there was not a hint of compression or distortion in any scene. I have always thought about having some speakers like that in a stereo or HT configuration, and it frightens me to think what sort of SPL levels those things could produce at a few meters. I was probably the better part of 75, maybe 100 feet from these speakers. I guess what I am trying to say is I would not have expected this sort of gear to put out those levels so loud and clean, I've heard loud movies, but they were compressing and distorting at peaks, but not this one.

I guess I see why JBL wants $500 a pop for the HF drivers, those things can REALLY make some noise 9.gif

BTW, the movie had it's faults, but it was a really good slasher film.

You realize the movie is based on a true story.... Right?

Truth is lamer than reality:

I was trying to talk about the dynamic range of pro audio equiptment and thinking about how it would be in the home, as there is always an interest on this forum in the Klipsch and other cinema speakers. 9.gif
