klipsch in america and europe

The primary difference would be in AC input requirements for amplifiers etc. European amps will be designed for 220 volt operation which means that they will draw about 1/2 as much current but the overall draw on the eletricity grid will be essentially identical.

By ohm's law Wattage ( ie power ) is equal to voltage times current. Therefore an amp designed to draw a maximum of 300 watts from the mains will draw approximately about 2.6 amps on a 110 volt service and about 1.3 amps when used on a 220 volt circuit. Naturally one does not plug a device designed for a 110 volt main into a 220 volt main as the power supply is designed for 110 volt operation and plugging it into 220 volts will play merry old hell with the unit.

At the speaker end of the chain there is no difference because the voltage supplied to the speaker by the amp will be the same whether the amp is powered by a 110 volt or 220 volt mains.

Not ALL electronic equipment sold in Europe is set-up for 220/240 volts AC....matter of fact, most places the only MAJOR difference in the wall socket output as compared to here in the U.S. is just the cycles per second...which mainly affects electric motor speeds and such...as for speakers needing any change...that is ridiculous...it isn't the wall socket power that is going to them to begin with...has NOTHING to do with that at all! As for places to purchase Klipsch in Europe...pretty much any large U.S. military base over there generally has them available for sale to soldiers...even if necessarily by special order...from the AAFES/Europe system...not a big hassle for a European native to swing a deal with a G.I, since it tends to happen all the time anyway! Again, been there, done that!

Fini...you forgot to mention the ABSOLUTE necessity of line conditioners in the transatlantic three-speaker-stereo-array! I don't honestly believe that one who is in Italy, powering Klipsch speakers on the EAST COAST of the USA would need the line conditioners to go much farther west than the Azores, BUT if the Klipsch speakers are on our WEST coast, then the line conditioners MAY need to extend almost all the way to New York...based on my calculations! 9.gif
