Deang
I need a good one. Any recommendations? While we're at it: Solder "creep" up the wire. Any good ideas on how to prevent it?

Those boys on the west coast know how to grow the worlds most killer hydro pot. Few hits of that stuff and a couple of those killer canadian beers and she's lights out for the night. Marvel
Dean, Are you meaning solder creep on stranded wire? It is the capillary action. All I have ever done is to only have the wire hot long enough to get the solder to flow correctly. There are few times I have felt I got too much on a wire and had to do it over. D-MAN
Use desoldering braid at the point you want to stop the capilary action. Fight fire with fire. DM
J.4knee
Use an antiwicking tool its like a pair of tweezers than comes in individual gauge sizes. You place it between the insulation and the point where you want the wicking to stop. The wire fits in a cone like end of the tweezers that run along the wire. What gauge wire are you needing to tin with a solder pot?
