The double bazooka antenna is a controversial one.

Many seem to think it has magical properties.

The Extended double Zepp really does have magical properties callled Gain in it's favored direction.

I once had a 3000 foot loop of wire strung up in some trees back in Washington State.

It had all kinds of low angle lobes on most every Ham Band.

Until a bad windstorm demolished it, it was a bad mo fo.

I once had a vertical wire dipole up 120 feet hanging vertically from a tree.

It was a challenge to keep the feed line from radiating, but it talked good on 40 20 15 and 17 meters.

I even used it up on 10 meters too.

There is a NEW antenna called a TakTenna, basically a end loaded shortened dipole.

Seems to be the new buzz lately.

Really? I thought he just quit posting.

Well he was banned but I guess he has been un-banned.

He's been in a couple bands since then.  40 meters, I think, for one.

Hi Fred,

I ran across this post from 2004 and noticed your prior WN2BZB call. I just wanted to say I was also licensed WN2BZB from about July 1971-1973, took about a year to get my general, and then became WB2UXI, with transitions after that related to upgrading and moving around. What years were you WN2BZB?

Thanks! and 73s

This quaint little thread has been churning around here for nearly 5 years. My big antenna blew down in a wind storm awhile ago, but maybe it is time to get erect again. Couldn't hurt. Need to figure out some techniques for keeping it up longer. Maybe a big spring to cushion the high tensions.
