MiniCooperAddict
Just finished up installing my new MB Quart QSD 213 speakers in the front doors and QSD 216's in the rear, of my 2003 Mini Cooper S, I had to make a special bracket to hold the 6-1/2's and 1" tweeters in the rear which was originally ment for 6x9's, they sound absolutely amazing on the stock Harmon Kardon headunit, but I will upgrade the headunit sometime in the near future, pictures to come soon. Any suggestions for the headunit upgrade? I'm leaning towards a Pioneer Premier or Clarion. QSD 213's http://www.mbquart.com/2003/en_US/products/prod_detail.asp?isArchive=&cat=auto&series=q%20series&strt=1&model=QSD+213 QSD 216's http://www.mbquart.com/2003/en_US/products/prod_detail.asp?isArchive=&cat=auto&series=q%20series&strt=1&model=QSD+216 not pictured are the tweeters which also came with both sets here they are http://www.mbquart.com/2003/en_US/products/prod_detail.asp?isArchive=&cat=auto&series=q%20series&strt=1&model=QTD+25 Not sure if I want to add a subwoofer, the speakers sound very tight without one. I just want more power to them. Not exactly sure the total output of the stock headunit, i think its 25w RMS x 4, a new headunit with preamp outs and a nice 50w to 75w RMS x 4 AMP would be a very much improvement. formica
As alternate choices, I've always had a thing for Eclipse decks... http://www.eclipse-web.com/index_cd.html ... but Nakamichi are also well regarded. Even though you may not want to rattle your windows, a sub always helps your main speakers by reducing the frequency range they try to reproduce. I'd recommend it... even more than the deck. Just my opinion... Rob
Rdmarsiii
A JL Audio W7 would do the job
MiniCooperAddict
How about this? http://www.jlaudio.com/stealthbox/minicooperD.html
Rdmarsiii
That should work. Wont sound near as good as a W7 though. But all JLs are good.

Joe Shmoe
Congrats on the Mini... I love those cars! Went out and bought "The Italian Job" just so I could watch them more Also great choice on the MB Quart's, they have been excellent speakers for years! kenratboy
Joe: did you watch the deleted scenes? One of the guys is taking over, and he doesn't know how to drive a stick MiniCooperAddict: if you were a real man, you would have pulled the entire stereo, sold it on eBay, and put the money towards a Works SC upgrade

MiniCooperAddict
There is a tuner here in the UK that has a Cooper S that does 0.99g on the skidpad.
dkp
I don't see any speakers in that so-called upgrade!!!
kenratboy
Wow, that has got to be painfully expensive - don't forget installation time, maybe 40 house for a pro!!! Well, the car might be a race machine, but how about the driver?
RFinco
Try this-- the JL Audio W6v2 10" in their "pro-wedge" enclosure. its serious. as for head units, you have two choices for top of the line sound quality. the audiophile unit but no bells or whistles: NAKAMICHI the High end unit, but with all the technology: ECLIPSE those are the ONLY head units worth their weight or price.
