cluless Posted June 7, 2004 Share Posted June 7, 2004 Well, we had a recent rash of rather disgusting porn posts over the weekend...and I managed to hit just about all of the threads while at work this morning. Obviously, not a good thing. Everyone tried to minimize this problem, but the moderators don't work 24/7 and forum members posting user name's to avoid doesn't prevent someone from hitting a "NASTY THREAD"... May I suggest, If you find a thread that contains this type of material, start a new thread that contains only a subject of that indicates what thread to ignore, with no text. for example "Warning PORN = Ron Regan thread by Honda Racing". Don't include text in your warning message/thread since that is just another way for these cretins to get a thread viewed. I'm no Prima Donna, but I'm getting fed up with this stuff. Moon is not the only one who has posted about leaving the forums due to the immature behavior of some of the young, and old, forum members. The Klipsch forum is by far the best that I have seen on the web. I would hate to lose some of our best members due to the lack of respect and general bad behavior by others. I get irritated by the flame wars and disgusted by the porn displayed here on occassion. However, the knowledge and friendships I gain from this forum are not something that I am willing to sacrifice in order to avoid those less desireable aspects of the same. Further, I would venture to guess that forums mimic life in general in that they have their peaks and valleys. Maybe we're in a bit of a valley right now-I don't know as I haven't been a member as long as most. But I am sure that this, too, shall pass... This is pretty effective at letting those who'd prefer not to see any of the nasty pictures as I check the number of hits the thread with explicit pictures got after the warning thread went up. A thing to keep in mind is that the culprit might post some pictures in the warning thread as he did in my warning thread or he might try a fake warning thread. The person who makes the warning thread needs include the names of the infected threads and the culprits, what is going on, and that the reader shouldn't look beyond the first post in case the culprit posts anything(and give a good space after the message or leave a few empty posts within the warn thread on purpose) and keep bumping the warning thread to the top of the forum. I'll admit I'm hardly one to talk myself, I enjoy posting jokes and useless banter once in a while, myself... But it's just the immature stuff that really gets me. When I first came here that was what I really enjoyed about this forum, people acted mature, however as with any good thing, things do down hill... I might get cancer, but I still smoke; I might get in an accident, but I still drive; I might get exposed to some gross images at the Klipsch site, but the benefits of coming here far outweigh that risk. Thanks to whoever started the warning threads, and to cluless for making a point of their benefits, if everyone knows there is a bad thread, the regulars should know enough to stay away from it.
