NOSValves Posted August 3, 2004 Share Posted August 3, 2004 Technical reason I like Mono blocks because with a tube rectifier (which sounds better to me) your still able to feed the amps all the juice they need to make the 60 watts cleanly without enormous voltage sag when pushed. I believe that a stereo amp is pretty much stuck having to use SS rectification to have the PS be able to keep up powering 4 KT88's to 60 watts and the associated front end tubes required.
