Born2RockU
...I want to thank everyone for their input on my "Hating my Heresy II's" topic. It truly has me thinking that the problem is my DENON head-unit. The last person whom posted told me that his DENON made his Heresy's sound incredibly FLAT. He suggested the Yamaha series...for a "day and night" difference. My question is ...What Is The Best Surround-Sound Amp by Yamaha...(RX-V650?)...or, any other BRAND under $1500 ?? Thank you...born2rock@pdq.net
D-MAN
I didn't say FLAT - I said overly-FAT... also, I don't have Heresy's, I have horns. But, horns being horns, probably applicable. Here's a "review" of the Yammie that I did when I first got it... http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=49474&forumID=69&catID=19&search=1&searchstring=&sessionID={9DFC27E2-D69C-4FF4-B9C1-E4A9B0DE9A31} DM
edwinr
The new Yamaha's sound okay for a solid state multi channel receiver. The more upmarket one'ss, just under the $1500 mark have a room correction facility - worth checking out.
dmethe3
I have had Yamaha recievers in the past, the last being a RX1130. Just to let you know, it caught fire TWICE! I then went to a Denon AVR5700 and that was night and day for the better! Also, at the time, I was running 4 Heresys, 2 were Heresy II's. I think the Denon has A lot cleaner power IMO. I don't think the problem is the Heresy/Denon combo. Dave
Cal Blacksmith
We have the RX-V 750 and are quite happy with it. It does have the room correction but is not THX certified. It has a true 100 watts per channel x7. I have owned Yamaha equipment since 1977 and have been quite happy with their stuff. I also have tube equipment and I love that also. edwardre
I didn't read your 'hate H2's' post yet, I'll try and get to it. But what I can say is that I am using a Denon/Heresy combo and they really sound impressive. My setup is as follows....Forte 2 mains, Heresy surrounds, KSW200 sub, and a Heresy 2 for a center channel where most of the sound comes through anyway. The Denon receiver in this particular setup is an older 1701....hardly 'flagship'. I find that the sound is quite detailed and not overly bright.......a lot warmer than I had expected...... I also use a Denon 3802 with 1954 Khorns as mains, 1953 Khorns as rear surrounds, Belles for center front and rear and an SVS sub. The Yamaha I had prior to the Denon was not even in the same ballpark. The Denon is much more detailed and warm, like it is in the smaller heresy setup. I agree with others, I do not think there is an issue with a Denon/Klipsch system, but I'll read your prior post and see if I'm missing the point (not uncommon). marksdad
take advice, and than do some listening, yammy is 1 of the worst mismatches i have had for my heresies, there are many fine recievers out there, and yammy just isnt 1 of them, they are by far the brightest electronics i have listened to lately, real ear bleeders
dr-dezibel
born2rock, your equipment is fine. The 3802 should work as well as my 3805 works with my heresys. I suggest the following: 1. go ahead and check your system settings as suggested in your other "hate"-thread 2. before you buy another receiver try it at home with your equipment 3. if then you still don't like the sound it may be a matter of taste and you'll have to get other speakers Good luck!
