You want him to dislocate his wrist?? easy, sorry to hear about your joint problem (seriously). I have 2 missing (degenerated to nuttin') discs in my back, and can't do the everyday carpentry thing, and have recently completed AutoCAD training. I am in the process of putting together a resume and cover letter, about to explore some leads. In the meantime (and looking back on the last 4 years), it has been a profound joy to be able to be the "stay-at-home" parent, and to get involved with their school and extra-curricular activities. It might not look good on a resume, but I am damn proud of it (and my girls)! So, have fun with your son! You have been given a gift...I am sure a lot of the Dads on this forum are jealous!! Oh, make sure you laugh a lot each day. I usually get going by looking in the mirror...
garymd
I've had 3 back surgeries and the most memorable time spent with my now 21 year old son was when I was stuck at home recovering for 4 weeks. The guys at work sent me Zelda to play on the Nintendo while my butt was attached to the couch. Every day after school (this was 1989), my 6 year old would get off the bus and sprint home to play with me and see how far I progressed. The worst part was when, after 3 weeks of very serious Zelda battling, I was about to capture the last castle and the game broke. One of the chips came loose inside and I just wanted to heave the damn thing across the room but couldn't because of my stitches.

easylistener
A lot of places are still using AutoCad. Arctecture stuff is a lot if not all auto/cad. If you want to learn a cool 3d software download rineo. I think that is how it is spelled. Crazy stuff can be done with that. Pro/e is a good software to know. Solid works and some others don't get used as much but can be usded at some places. I am going to school for mechanical design my self. I don't realy like it, I miss the freedom and money of being a auto tech.

picky
Allan: The reed is missing on your oboe! Easy: I've heard the same thing: AutoCAD is still used by architects. I'm an automotive designer. Here, in the auto industry we use all sorts of CAD tools. AutoCAD is not widely used except to help design some in-plant assembly line details and perform assmbly line work flow analysis, etc. For developing parts we use the "Big Three": CATIA, UNIGRAPHICS and Pro/ENGINEER. We also use SDRC I-DEAS on Ford programs. All four are 3-D Solid modeling design packages. I understand that AutoCAD also has some of those capabilities as well, but we simply do not use it. -just some "nickel-knowledge" info. I began using CAD exclusively in 1984. Prior to that I drew on a drafting table with lead on Mylar.
