Which EL34s do you like in a Dynaco ST70?

I hit a tube with a pair of pliers and busted the glass on a Sovtek EL34 and want to just replace all 4 now(all Sovteks). I'm looking at both the JJ/Tesla EL34L(not the regular EL34), SED EL34 Winged C, Mullard reissues or a quad of Mullards. I know there are different types of Mullards and rip-off relabels, etc. I can get a quad of the JJs or SEDs for $50, reissues for $100 & Mullards for $200 and up. Now that I think about it authentic NOS Mullards are probably out of the question for now. $50 or $100? Any other recommendations?

I've tried the following in my Dynaco St 70:

Mullard Xf1's: Super midrange. Very expensive.

Svetlana: Again great midrange. Very smooth-most Mullard like.

EH 6CA7 Fatt bottles: Strong bass and clear highs- a good "rock" tube.

JJ E34L: My fave-Solid bass, great midrange and smooth highs.

I think it comes down to personal preference and music tastes. The good news is that between the Svetlana/Winged C, EH, and JJ you have three reasonably priced new production tubes that will do just fine.

Use the money you save on some music!

Hope this helps,
