78Khorn
OK, for the HT I'm putting together what do you think would work the best with my Heritage speakers (K-horns and Heresy's), a NAD-T773 or a Rotel RSX-1067? They both appear to be comparably priced. Or do you have another suggestion.
tkot
i'd go NAD all the way!! even if your cd/dvd/cablebox, is mid-fi it will make the best out of it/them. (thats if they have digital outs so the NAD can do the D/A conversion) and at that price point it going to be hard to top. and if you think im biased just check my system profile jay
edwinr
With Klipschorns... probably the NAD. That warm woolly sound they used to have has been changed to a more incisive sound - although still warmer than the Rotel.
SteelerFan
Here is a third vote for NAD. I ran their S170i preamp and S250 amp with my Reference speakers for a short while and the sound was wonderful. Not dissing Rotel, I've no personal experience with it. Fish
No bias here,I know Rotel sounds great w/reference but I would audition both in my home to make a personal decision.
tunemanjjw
the surround NAD stuff has a low noise ceiling -- not a big deal with less efficient speakers, but I had to get rid of mine b/c it had too much psssshhhhh with my 7 system. the sound though was fantastic though. Rdmarsiii
Doesnt the NAD stuff have the soft clip tech or whatever?

78Khorn
Can you explain the soft clip tech comment for me? A lot of positive comments for the NAD but I see a few of people who have had reliability problems with NAD also (although the 773 wasn't mentioned directly). Anyone have any additional comments on the reliability of NAD? Thanks for the feedback!
tkot
the soft clipping is a limiter that will round off the top of the output signal of a clipping amp. it will save your speakers. that said with k-horns i would leave it off unless your playing really, really loud.( its just an other circuit in the signal path.) as far as having any issues with my stuff, never, and some of it ive owned for 20 years!! jay
tgourlie
So with the soft clipping on you may get a little more (probably inaudible) noise ( inaudible noise)? Also do you think a bridged NAD 2200 is too much for a heresy II?

Darren
I'll have to throw a differing opinion out there. I have Rotel equipment and I've been really happy. No personal experience with NAD, but I recall a few people on this forum had to trade their new units back in (I believe they were getting a "hum" through the speakers. My Rotel is absolutely silent and I think the sound is very true. As always, listening for yourself is always the best option.
