kegman
Anybody know if these tubes are what they say they are? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5722799256 If they are or not, anyone know where I may find a second pair? I've allready got these but looking for 2 more to use them in my amp, preferably the blue ones. But would the usual clear ones match and if so where to find? Much appreciated for any and all help on this!
NOSValves
All I can say is good luck finding a match to those. At least the price was right. I personally would be very careful buying used unknown output tubes. Craig
kegman
yes the price is what got me the tubes, I just threw a couple bucks at a bunch of tubes to see what I'd win. I like to experiment with tubes and the cheap way to do it is used. I test em all first then put them in a little test amp I have that I really don't care about to make sure there good! so far so good! but I would like to try and mate these up! Anyone with any ideas? dodger
They are a Chinese made in the mid '80s to early '90s Golden Dragon Brand KT-88. They were made at the Shuguang Factory. Basically a "Cream of the Crop" 6550. List was around $40.00 each, add $5.00 for matching. dodger

Internet Used: Ebay & Audiogon. Used: garage/estate sales in older areas, New: also Internet Musician's Friend.com, American Musical Supply.com, Retail; Guitar Center, Sam Ash, most high-end audio "salons", Richardson Electronics and Penta Labs are national distributors. These sources have many other tubes as well (other than KT88). Personally, I would substitute KT90 or KT99 for KT88.
kegman
artto. I got yu and I do enjoy other tubes , would also like to try kt-90's But I'm looking for a mtching pair to the pair I allready have. They are blue Golden Dragon Brand KT-88's And I can't seem to find those , yes I find others but I was looking for a match to these. (that I allready bought off ebay) Don't even seem to find regular Golden Dragon KT-88's let alone any blue ones, I'd take standard dragons or blue! Maybe I didn't state my original post good enough but I allready have the pair of blue Golden Dragon KT-88's That I won in the auction now I'm looking for a matching pair. If anyone could help, much appreciated. Thanks!
artto
It's very unlikely you're going to find a "matching pair" that matches your "matched pair", although you'll probably be able to find another pair that are matched between themselves. The internet auctions, probably Ebay and Audiogon.com are your best bets. These type of items tend to "come & go". You see a number of them pop up for a while, and then you don't see anything for some time, just have to keep looking & watching & asking. So as you say as long as I can find 2 more strays I'll give em a try.
dodger
Page 2 or 3 of Google search for golden dragon KT88s comes up with a british firm having them. Also listed in Vacuum Tube Valley under Liouz(sp?) dodger
kegman
Yes I've found the same info "a british firm having them. Also listed in Vacuum Tube Valley under Liouz(sp?)" But that's about as far as it go's. I've looked up and down for any of them with those contacts but no go! I emailed Vacuum Tube Valley and am waiting for a response. I'm sure a couple will show up some where.
