jzoz01
Well I bought a new audio rack (a sweet Bello stand) and reassembled all my gear and now I get a hum through my main speakers which I didn't have before and it's driving me nuts. I hooked up enerything the way it was before and now I got a hum. The only thing that changed is the proximity of the components and cables to each other. What the heck happened??? lynnm
Try this. (I) Are you using a cable connection? Disconnect it before attempting the following trobleshooting method. Cable connections are a very common source of hum. (II) If you have a turntable check to make sure that its ground wire is making solid contact with the grounding point. If I and II check out Then: Disconnect everything from your amp and listen. Hum....Yes .... try reversing the line cord...If you cannot ( polarised plug ) try using a 3 wire to 2 wire "Cheater" adapter. If the hum persists even with the cheater the problem is with your amp/receiver. Humm...No...Reconnect each peripheral one at a time.If no hum repeat until you find the add on that is creating hum and use the cheater on it. Keep us posted. Mighty Favog
I'm getting this kind of hummmmm too. I'd like to get one of these from Jensen but I'd also like to get it from a local dealer rather than the net (o.k. I'm anctious) so delivery won't be so long (that and I don't want to put anything on my credit card right now. http://www.avcable.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=VRD-1FF&Category_Code=VIDEOISO
3dzapper
I wonder if Klipsch will ever get more MAGIC Boxes in? They have the MAGIC Splitters but they are like $150. The boxes must be good, they sold out in a hurry. Rick
Mighty Favog
UPDATE: Found a Centronics #634 at a local "salon" for $12. It did the trick but it only covers 5-900MHz. Digital cable is still a long ways off for us so it'll do fine for now.
gibby214
I had a really faint humm, but more noticeably a scrolling lines moving down the tv screen. 3 things helped me. 1. The light dimming switches in my house made the lines and the humm go wild. Turn them off or get RF friendly ones. 2. The cable supplier never had the cable coax splitters grounded. They grounded them to the same stake that my breaker box used. 3. Ran cable coax in and out of my monster power surge suppressor. This probably just grounded it again. This took care of all of the humm and 95% of the video noise. Some called it a ground loop problem. similar to what lynnm was describing. good luck
