bluesboy
These are some pictures of the finished bass horns with a MDF mock-up of the upper horn box. The horn box will be made out of solid hardwood in it's final form.

spystyle
Hello from Maine I found this thread from Google - I am super impressed! I really want to build one too, with my friend Dana. He is a real speaker builder : I am not a real speaker builder but I did once build an Altec 620 cabinet : Would you gents please tell me where I can find detailed build-plans for this? edit : Oh I discovered that if I callSpeakerLabs they'll sell me plans for $30 Are theirs the best plans? Does anyone sell a kit? Are there any good modifications to the Klipschorn or is it a perfect design after all these years? Thanks! bluesboy
Wow. Thanks for reviving an old thread. It's nice seeing pics of the old shop. If you can still get Speaker-Lab K-Horn plans for 30 bucks I'd go for it. I found that they were very accurate. Let me know if I can be of any help with your build. spystyle
Oh I hadn't noticed, I guess this thread is about 5 years old Thanks for the coaching offer, I will keep you posted. I'll order the Speaker-Lab plans Have fun! Craig
The Dude
I thought it was new to then I realized it isn't the 21st yet if so my bills are late. Nice build thread though.
bluesboy
I don't know why I didn't post a picture of the finished product on this thread. Anyway here's one now.

bluesboy
Yeah those are 511 horns with Altec 902 drivers. Tweeters are Beyma cp-25s. I'm using ALK universals for crossovers. The front raised panel and top section are made from solid purpleheart. A couple of years ago I closed in the backs and removed the mounting panel for the woofer and bolted the K-33 directly to the part of the cabinet where the 3x13 slot is cut. Both of these mods seemed to improve bass performance.
Tarheel
Yeah I miss the old shop as well. The speakers do sound great as do the LS clones bluesboy built for me...again using the 511/902 combination. My xovers are a bit different and are an Al Klappenberger design. Good to see these "old" pics again.
