Marvel
Thought you might enjoy this. Gilmour bought this boat on the Thames in 1986. The boat was built in 1911, for Fred Karno, manager for Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy. The boat is called Astoria, and is now Gilmour's private studio. The article in Tape Op doesn't say how much the boat cost, but in '86 they spent 50-60,000 pounds on renovation (adding the studio equipment). They use solid silver interconnects. They tested them for which direction they should be connected to see which way sounded better. Whatever! You can read the whole interview with Phil Taylor, who takes care of it. Go to: http://www.tapeop.com at the bottom of the page is a link to Bonus Articles. The top article (PDF) is the interview with Phil Taylor. SCOOTERDOG
Wow ! What a great artical that was, thanks for posting the link. arthurs, From "A Fleeting Glimpse" website David Gilmour Recently Recording Sources close to David Gilmour say that he was recently (mid March 05) back in the studio, and laying down some new music. It's understood that he was using Abbey Road, but may switch to using his houseboat. The smart money says that David is working on his new solo album, with the release date not known, but sure to be some time away yet. Thats All I know at this time. scooter
