Anubis
My favs are Titan AE, Jurassic Park DTS, Haunting DTS, Matrix, and The Fifth Element. Although, Titan AE is the one I use the most as it has just about everything to test on it (low bass, surround effects, etc.). I love showing it to people to test my system. They usually give out a big "WOW!". ------------------ --- ...transmission terminated... Anubis wildfire@kscable.com
DLUngurait
I have three different DVD's that I use to demo my system for visitors: "Titan AE" (early sequence when the ships are trying to escape Earth before it destroyed) "Toy Story 2" (opening sequence) Dolby Digital Demo ("The Whole World Is Listening") The Dolby Demo DVD is only $15 and it is available at: http://www.dolby.com/dstore/all_items.html#wgthwl_dvd This piece contains about a half dozen DD animated logo opens which, although short, really demonstate 5.1 at it's best. There are also a couple of 5.1 music samples on this demo. Dave This message has been edited by DLUngurait on 08-29-2001 at 02:03 PM
drewzter
Toy Story 2 and Saving Private Ryan are good ones... also, see Legends of the Fall. There are some great war scenes where gun fire is going diagonally from behind you left to in front of you right and it really sounds like whatever it is (I think it's a shell) is going right over your head. Lethal Weapon 4 also shows off your stuff pretty darn good. Lots of guns, glass breaking, and rain, especially in the first 5 minutes... Braveheart has some good sound editing, too. Awesome music, of course, but the fight scenes are kick-butt as well. The plane crash scene in Cast Away is also great... lots of great ones! Enjoy! ------------------ Front: dbx Soundfield V -5-way w/15" woofers Center: KLF C7 Rear Surround: Polk RT f/x bipole/dipole Amp: Yamaha RX-V990 100x3; 25x2 DVD: Yamaha DVD S795 (built-in DD Processor) CD: Yamaha CDC 575 5-Disc VCR: Toshiba M752 6-head TV: Mitsubishi 40" Tube DirecTV Sony Playstation connected to V990 for awesome gaming picture & sound! Once you put this in and crank it up.....your jaw will be on the floor. In a couple of weeks the DTS version will be coming out and one can only hope that it will be even better. ------------------ Klipsch Quartets - fronts Klipsch Academy - center Klipsch KG.5's - rears Klipsch KSW12 subwoofer Denon AVR-4800 Denon POA-5200 THX Amp Sony C-67ES CD Player JVC 36D201 36" TV JVC HR-S3600 SVHS Player JVC XV-M565BK DVD Player Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2100 Digital Cable box Playstation 2 Monster Power HTS-2000 MIT Speaker Cable RS HT Gold Interconnects Monster S-Video, Component, and Optical cables
Klipsch-daddy
You must get T2 in the alum. case. It has the different tests from lucas to set up your bigscreen or tv and do speaker sweeps. Another good action movie is Blade (club part) and Saving Private Ryan. ------------------ My HTS: MAINS: KSB 3.1 CENTER: KSC-C1 REAR: WHITE QUINTETS SUB: KSW-12 TV: TOSHIBA THEATER VIEW 50" RECEIVER:KENWOOD VR-4080B DVD: SONY S-360 DVD PLAYER FOR SALE PINANNCLE WIDESCREEN CTR (105.00)
avman
if i had only one dvd (which is often the case when i'm demonstrating surround systems) i would choose 'eagles hell freezes over' because you get the 'sizzle' of the dts intro, and the cool seven bridges road cut-where each member's voice comes out of an individual speaker. besides, imho, familiar music is a better guage of speaker/equipment performance than guns and explosions, which-unless you have war or really bad neighborhood experience-is kind of difficult to judge how realistic it is. avman. ------------------ 1-pair klf 30's c-7 center sony strda-777ES receiver NEW! sony playstation 2! dishnetwork model 7200 dishplayer satellite receiver/digital bitstream recorder pioneer dvd player sharp 35"tv panamax max dbs+5 surge protector/power conditioner monster cable interconnects/12 gua.speaker wire surrounds and a 'teens sub coming!
