Al Klappenberger
Bob, I'm impressed with how good that motor-start cap looks at 1Khz. Here's two parallel 1.0 uF Harmony "bypass" caps. These are touted as being super-duper caps. They measure slightly (and insignificantly) better at 1 Khz. They get better yet at 10 Khz. How do the motor-start caps look at 10 Khz. Will your meter test somewhere higher? Al K.
BEC
Al, Yes, they look even better at 10Khz. Around 0.01 at 10Khz. Bob
Al Klappenberger
Bob, Excellent! I guess they need to be made to handle heavy current in motor applications. That should translate to low ESR. Al K.

Also, which values did you pick? I have seen it done more than one way. jc
3dzapper
Those in the picture are 18Ga Janzen .1mH (255-202)and 3uF Daytons (027-418) from Parts Express in parrallel. The ones in my Heresys and Khorns use the same coils with Kimber caps in the horns and GE F&Fs in the Hs. All three work equally well. The P-traps with the ALKs in the Khorns may be overkill but I feel the further down I push the 9KHz peak the better I like it. Someday, when I'm rich, I'll get a set of Extreme Cut Off networks from Al. Rick
Mark Hardy
oooh, I LIKE that B&K LCR/ESR meter! Where does one get one of those? Never saw one before. The ESR meters I've seen are sort of -- nominal.
BEC
Here is one place that has them. http://www.elexp.com/tst_k885.htm I don't think I paid more than about $500.00 with the Kelvin clip 4 wire test leads. Might want to do a search to see who has the best price. Bob
