Mighty Favog
As implied we are re-doing our bathroom. Today I was moving a HVAC duct and went into the wall with a shop-vac to clear out all the debris from the last 50+years. Under all that garbage was about 20 loose razor blades. Some just said Gillette on them so no big deal. The others were labled "Marlin. Fine guns since 1870. Made in USA." I can only think that they were some sort of promotional gimick. Oh, well....carry on.
colterphoto1
Old medicine cabinets sometimes had a slot in the back, where you could use the wall cavity to dispose of old 'straight' blades. That's what you discovered. In the remodeling industry, I've found whisky bottles, harmonicas, Japanese porn magazines in wall cavities. Nowadays, we always leave something for the next guy. My brother built a house that I helped frame. Wait until he cuts that hole in the FR wall for the door to his screened in porch WOOOOHHOOOOO, it'll be a party that day, I can tell you for sure! SteelerFan
My Dad remembers those slits in the wall in bathrooms of old houses for used razor blades. As far as the Marlin ones go it probably was a promotional thing.

Speedball
Thats pretty cool, I remember seeing the slot in the back of medicine cabinets as a kid. I found several empty beer cans in the ceiling of a state prison school building. Also found the classified section of a newspaper from 1925 in another nearby building. Listed was acreage at the south west corner of 86th and Meridian street for about 50 bucks. That property I would guess is now worth millions. Finding old stuff is cool
CaptnBob
In the back of a wooden cabinet which held lighting gel in the college auditorium I worked in, I found an old yardstick. On it was printed "Serving the Alton area for fifty years - since 1885."
Daddy Dee
Yep, I used to dispose of my razor blades through the slot in the back of the medicine cabinet.
