IAmtnbikr
I am sure the local Denon dealer will not be pleased about that. Wonder what kind of pricing BB will have and what they will carry? Sometime this weekend I may sneak over and take a peek to see if they have anything actually there yet...
Bill H.
Am, Nothing noted on either the B/B Site or Denon.com...........It will be interesting though! IF, I had a local dealer that sold Denon, I would use his business to support my Neighbor stores!
yankeeguy
They have three HTIB in the stores now. One is a 7.1 75watts/receiver with a single DVD Player $699.99 The other two are competing with the Bose 3-2-1 I don't know what the prices for these are, but one of them has HDMI hook-ups. el jopez
I have a friend who works for BB has toldme info regarding the direction of the company which reflects IAmtnbikroriginal post.Over the last few years BB has experienced better than expected increases inprofits returns. BB is currently in a strategic position to expand itsdominance in the digital/electronic market across the US. Most BBs at the moment are a generic a marketplacefor appliance, computers, entertainment products etc. The game plan which has been in effect formonths now is to deploy and redeploy specialty stores to meet certaindemands. For example store dedicatedsolely to appliances or mobile technologies. For computers the Geek Squad exists which is currently under the BBbanner which is soon to be launched nationally on it own two feet. Such stores are currently in existencefocused on certain customer demands vs. the all in one HTIB concept. What is of particular interest for those on the forum wouldbe its game plan for home entertainment. BB currently has a model for a high end store dubbed the Berry or Barrystore. Such a store would be designed towoo over the customer who would like to purchase lower end Hi-fi gear. The customer who fits this schematic would bethe average joe who would go to either Ultimate or the Good Guys for the lower endor the more affordable gear who would find BBs selection of high end offeringlacking. Such stores in the B modelwould have designated listening/viewing rooms to test drive the equipment likemost high end dealers allow. Denon andPioneer Elite receivers have been talked about as offerings as well as anincreased library of Monster products, as if that one couldnt have been foretold. Thispast spring (05) BB ran test drives in select stores on the east andwest coast where B&W speakers were sold, which was met with betterthan expected responses. Such a move on BB part would prove strategic genius as noother company can match its offerings in cheaper prices and financing plans. The company is currently well on its way of replicatingthe Wal-Mart model: super low prices, accepting all returns and shutting downthe competition. For example CircuitCity stores could potentially close itsdoors within a 3 year window. Would Klipsch Reference speakers be for sale at the selectstore? Maybe a mod could share someinfo? Imagine walking into a specialty BBB store and using your BB card to finance a complete Klipsch Ref 7 hometheater complete with a Pioneer Elite receiver and Mitsubishi Diamond seriesmonitor on 36 months no interest financing and then going default onpayments. Its clearly a win-winsituation for BB and a nightmare in paradise for the ignorant customer whofrequents the store and buys the HTIB setup to being with. kenratboy
My paycheck says Best Buy, but I sell Martin Logan [] You are just seeing the beginning. More to come, just wait. And about the Denon, like he said, three HTiB systems. The actual HTiB (7.1) is VERY nice and a steal at its selling price. Awesome job Denon. The two others are Bose 3.2.1. type systems, very nice as well. Denon knows what they are doing, be it $1000 receivers or entry level systems. texxas guy
The BB in my area just opened the Magnolia Home Theater inside the Best Buy store. Only had time for a glimpse, but I saw Denon, Pioneer Elite (Plasmas and receivers), and some Martin Logan speakers. All are displayed in a "separete listening area" within the store. I agree that this would be a great place for Klipsch's Reference line. With Ultimate closing down here, there is only one other place locally that carries Klipsch. I saw one in my area too. When I asked I was told that particular store would be getting the Magnolia setup early in 06.
el jopez
You are just seeing the beginning. More to come, just wait. And I am very VERY excited about the endless possibilites. LIke I said financing options not even Ultimate could offer I could get into some serious trouble! Joe "I want more money"

Griffinator
LOL! Home audio is nothing but a mountain of profit for BB, particularly compared to every other department in the store... It's no small wonder to me they're doing everything possible to expand that piece of their business...
Indyjeep
Actually car audio is the more profitable dept, with Video and Audio coming up next. But for the ppl here in Indy, the Castleton store will have a Magnolia Hi-Fi in their store. Which I know the Manager up there right now. Great guy....hehe..cant wait for it to open....Pioneer Elite here I come...

Remember, the competition on tube TV's, DVD players, et al is absolutely vicious.

Indyjeep
Well with the new DLPs and PLCDs and Plasmas your lookin at sometimes 38 % margin, but on your lower end ones there is nothing...and even sometimes a loss of money..
