eq_shadimar
With the impending release of the new Cornwall, Heresy, LaScala etc.. I was wondering if anyone who attended the tours asked or heard anything about Klipsch releasing a compatible center channel? DrWho
Heresy 3 and for those with khorns the lascala 3 [][]
j-malotky
Hi Jeff I did have some time to talk to Mark about this at the Sat night dinner in Indy. There is not an official Heritage Center, but having 3 new LAS2's accross the front is very desirable for a new HT. The new Heresy is about 3db hotter than the old one and will match older Heritage big boys better than the older Heresy's. We talked about my observations that the room size has a lot to do with what Heritage works in its environment. For example, the Heresy or CW sounded weak in my HT. I have been in smaller HT's where they sound great. So, the new line LAS2, CW3 and H3 helps the HT delema, but no, there is not a Heritage Center in the works that I heard of. eq_shadimar
Ah ok well you know it is not for me with the 5 Cornwall TV system and 6 Heresy projection system but I hadn't seen the question asked before so I thought I would ask. I think lots of people would buy one if it was available. Laters, Jeff
damonrpayne
Well, I think they would make "one" if one would do it. You'd probably want a Klipschorn center different from a heresy center, from a Lascala Center, from a Cornwall center. I'm surprised that no one on the board has an "official" business of custom-building Heritage center channels. There is an aweful lot of buying and trading of parts and discussion of how to properly make enclosures, it seems like someone could have a steady side-business just by making dedicated center channels for Heritage. SCOOTERDOG
With all this talk of Haritage and big centers on the forum lately I feel like I am throwing mine on every thread. But wth why not. Granted I did everything possible to make my center in the tradition of the heritage line. It is an awsome center and because it is a horizontal center it makes placement much easier. However it is quite large and heavy. I don't think I would set it on top of a big screen, it would need a very strong shelf or in my case I have a front projection system and it is below the screen and works quite well this way. Trey has seen my construction photo's. If you go to this web site you can see some of the construction photo's during my build. http://www.geocities.com/scooterb4u/Custom_Center.html
colterphoto1
I think it would be a vertical CW3, don't know if you could fit the horn in vertically with the new woofer position however. M
j-malotky
There are some awesome Heritage centers on this Forum. I would put mine on the list as well as scooter, hwatkins etc etc. It does not look like it would keep up with my Khorns, but as many of you have heard it, it rocks as a center. Maybe we should ask for a permanent sticky in the odds and mods or HT section for a permanent posting of Heritage custom centers, as this is a topic that comes up every month or so. We could keep tips there instead of re hashing this every month or so. Mike C, you have been in my room, I tried a K700 and K600 and it did not keep up with my mains at all. The CW3 would not be an option for me. The new LAS would rock, but I love my HUGE screen. I think a custom center gives a lot more larger screen choises than a big LAS. I have thought about building custom centers for people, or at least designing and voicing them and have someone with better woodworking skills make them look as awesome as they sound. damonrpayne
John if you could take one of the new LaScala's and squash it down to the height of, say, a vertical cornwall, that'd be a center channel I'd pay $3,000 for. Then you could still fit a 120" screen above it with a normal ceiling.

damonrpayne
If you turned the new Lascala on its side the horns would be vertical not horizontal, if you could squash it down so that it was shorter & wider, with the horns horizontal, that would make an amazing center. IndyKlipschFan
Also remeber the new La Scala is a split cabinet. So you "could" place the high end right in the middle tilt it EXACTLY where it nees to go..and place the Bass bin next to it. Thats what I am doing with my 7 split Las Scalas. Ask Wooo Dog, placement dialed in IS everything!
IndyKlipschFan
I will also say the Veritcal corns make wonderful centers (on their sides) as well. I have mine between K horns.. not so sure I could not be happier! If you look at my avatar, it is underneath in the cabinet below.
colterphoto1
So looks like with H3, you could use another H3 cabinet, for CW3 use CW3 or modify for horizontal cabinet orientation, LS or Khorn could easily use the new split LS2 cabinet. There's something for everyone. No real need for a specialized cabinet, or is there? Michael
damonrpayne
How tall would the tallest part of the new split lascalla cabinet be?
DrWho
Why not just go with an acoustically transparent screen and then flush mount all the speakers? I think I might really enjoy the sound of a flush mounted lascala - gotta love baffle gain.

Those split beautiful LS are really going to work out nicely for the theatre folk. Michael
damonrpayne
I have always felt that an acoustically transparent screen would not be quite as good a picture nor quite as good a sound. Also, you'd lose two feet or so from the length of your room that way... Colter, do you know how tall the bass bin of the new LaScala is? This might be an ever better option for me than the custom vertical cornwall. (I'll still build it and sell it)
colterphoto1
It didn't change appreciably, so close to 24". They kept the same internal volume of the horn, but it's 1" MDF now.
kenratboy
Why not take a H3, turn it 90 degrees, turn the mid/tweet 90 degrees, and make the cabinet as short as possible (but a bit longer to compensate) Maybe 13-14" tall (squish it down!) and another 4" or so longer. It would not be symetrical, but it would be so close, you would never notice (if you have a 100" screen and are sitting 12-15' away, having the mid/tweeter 6" off center is not going to matter) Hell, make a dual woofer version for fun, too!
