damonrpayne
I have a pretty decent 2-CD Time Life set of some classic songs. I like Bing Crosby and Ella Fitzgerald. I do not like modern pop singers re-interpreting the classics I grew up with. I was looking to pick up some more holiday tunes but being an audio nerd I'm not just going to go to Target and get whatever's on the endcaps. Who can recommend good recordings of great performances? Artist must be older than Bono, etc.

sputnik
Here are some of the best selections from our Christmas music collection. These are mostly instrumentals. You may have been looking for vocals but these are certainly worth checking out. Windham Hill Artists - "Winter Solstice" George Winston - "December" Otmar Liebert - "Poets and Angels" Otmar Liebert - "Winter Rose" Liona Boyd - "A Guitar for Christmas" Liona Boyd - "Christmas Dreams" "Christmas with the Vienna Boys Choir" Eric Tingstad & Nancy Rumbel - "The Gift: Acoustic Offerings for the Holiday Season" The last one is especially nice.
