Blose! AAaaarrrghghghg!

Ok, look - I had to come here to unload my conscience.

I have had a pair of Bose tower speakers (little 501's) from 1994,

bought at a big box, never really used when I was in college because I

didn't know any better. Tape on grey vinyl veneer, tiny little

cone tweeters, good condition, but just nasty. That was hard to

admit here.

More easily admitted, they have been unhooked and sitting in a closet

since I brought home my CWII's 5 or 6 years ago, put them side-by-side

and the Bose sounded like utter and complete trash in comparison.

Now, in defense of the towers, they are much much smaller, but still,

they just sounded horrid.

Now to the point, I just sold them. To a nice young guy who

whipped out an Ipod to demo them, with a mini-RCA jack wire to connect

to a Yamaha amp (that has no mini-connections)...all I could do was

slip a phone cord into the AM antennae clip, and play him some AM

Tejano...he listened to make sure all the ports were pushing air...and

walked out with them...and his IPOD.

MAN, do I feel bad. I feel like I stole his money, all

<hundred> bucks he paid for these paperweights. Good

grief. With the IPOD, he probably won't recognize the difference,

but still...

Look at it this way-

1. You used them since 94........

2. You gained valuable knowledge just how bad they are.

3. You made 100.00 bucks getting rid of them, to someone who listened to them and should

make Him happy.

501's, were'nt they those nasty things on legs with the downward 8" woofer and tweeters in rotatable cavities in the top. yyyyeeeecccchhhh good riddance. I have a buddy who still has his dad's speakers like that. Hate them.

Let the kid be happy, spend the money and be glad they're gone. THe kid had no idea what good sound is.

I think people assume MP3's are unusable. I have a lot of MP3's that sound better than some CD's with poor quality.

However, I have over 150 CD's because I want the quality and I want to support (the small) artists I listen to.

OLORIN, I said I *felt* bad, not that I was bloody stupid.

Mike, these things were about the size of a six by six, with one edge

beveled off and tweets on two of the edges, with an interior little

tiny downfiring woofer...kind of hard to explain. They aren't

much around these days for resale, probably because they ^sucked^.

Oh well, went out tonight and blew the cash on beer, so I guess I am all better...beer, is there anything it can't do?
