If you are into cars, you know that Volkswagan owns Bugatti and their

first car (VW's ownership of Bugatti) was the 1000 HP Veyron. It

has a 16 cylinder W16 engine (2 V8's attached horizontally) and it has

FOUR turbos and AWD as well as a 7 speed tranny.

Anway, the car will set you back a whopping $1,200,000. This

seems like a lot of money until you consider how much it costs Bugatti

to build...

$9,000,000

How? It is a once-in-a-lifetime statement piece and technological experiement.

Not audio related, but I though you might appreciate it.

Yes, for each one - as in, it costs them $7,800,000 to sell each car

(hence the limited production). The idea is they will make it

back because their reputation is now at a god-like level and anything

they make, people will buy at any price.

The two stocks for the wipers and turn signal cost Bugatti about $6,000

EACH. They are made of machined aluminum and magnesium.

I remember ferrari's are notorious for using motor oil. They use a

special shell motor oil that cost 50 dollars a quart. And if you do not

use it it voids all warantee. Also the fact that the engine usually has

8 quarts really adds up... I'll stick to my mobil 1 at 4 dollars a

quart thank you. I have one honda 91 accord with 180000 miles on it.

The engine is like new with mobil 1

My guess would be that if it is indeed true, it's taking into account the development and design costs and averaging them out among all the cars built, they may make a profit building and selling the car, but take a loss on the project as a whole due to the cost to develop. But that is ok, because of the trickle down effect. The technology developed for this car will be implimented into their vw and audi lines.

look at it this way, the VW Phaeton was a testbed for the new Bentleys.

The Bentleys use a modified chasis and enginer of the VW Phaeton.

Though this year they are phasing the Phaeton out. Usually there are

cars out there just to make statements and lose money. Heck GM loses

2000 per every car they sell. While Nissan makes 1400 profit. But there

are cars like the Mercedes Benz SLK with the hardtop convertible that

became a test model for the top of the line sl.
