cruisaire
While I have enjoyed the Sonic T amp with the HWOs, it's time to drag out the Magnavox and use the Foreplay II with it instead. Mark Hardy
You are correct sir! PP EL84's should be good; 2A3's better. Fancy seeing you over here... :-) Happy holidays!
cruisaire
Someday, I am going to be up yer way again and you, Sir, I plan to meet in person and discuss audio over a beverage or 2! I'll let you know how this sounds when I get it set up.
Daddy Dee
cruisaire, that setup should sound very sweet with the Heresy's. 7199's in the Magnavox?
cruisaire
Nah DD, just another ol' 6V6 PP. But, I do have that EL84 SET to refurb and that would do nicely as well, I feel certain.
mobile homeless
Nah ...... just another ol' 6V6 PP.This is a tube that now interests me and will probably be my next foray into push-pull tube solutions. Not a lot of power but seems to be a sweet tube with very nice properties and an open midrange to boot. Some of the Japanese guys have really been getting into these 6V6 designs. I would think it an excellent solution, this coming from someone that has a great love for the EL-84, especially within the many vintage offerings. kh

They can pop up on the auction site for a decent price. I want to try 6V6, I'm kinda curious about the tone.
pauln
http://boozhoundlabs.com/howto/ Well, well, well... I saved this the other day - intro to tubes and complete instructions for how to build a nice 6v6 amp! Pauln
jt1stcav
6V6s have a sweet, mellow tone with punch IMO. My bro's Dared VP-16 6V6-based integrated amp literally blew away his previous (unmodded) JoLida JD 202a (EL34); it's sonics were more true-to-life, and only got better with quality tube rolling![H]
