mark1101
These things are HEAVY. Just wanted to share a picture of another one of Dean's works. My LaScalas are happy. [][]
Deang
About as point-to-point as you can possibly get. I originally put the pads under the leads to protect from shipping, but then decided they might be a good idea as a permenant arrangement. I'll catch hell from Al for dropping the litz, but after building a set of these for myself I was floored by the midrange clarity and deep controlled bass from the copper foils. Mark, I feel bad about the awkward installation. I actually called Bob who graciously took time out to measure the open areas in the rear of his LaScalas, and I'm surprised the boards just didn't slide in almost perfectly. Things didn't go well with the shrink tubing on the foil either -- as soon as the soldering iron hit the joints the tubing would split and peel -- that's why you see cold shrink wrap in some places. The foil is a bear to work with -- not fun! I'm glad they survived shipping -- I was worried about that too.
mark1101
Dean, As you can see the installation went fine, really. The boards may have fit the original intended way dimensionally, but not with the big inductors on them. I tried. Still, the driver wires reached fine, and things are neat inside. They sound awesome. More on that another time though. I had a heck of a day and I'm about done for the night tonight.
