jcmusic
Yesterday while listening to a cd i heard a pop out of one side of my system. It does not seem to have affected anything that i can tell so far. Does anyone have any clues as to what may have caused this. Is it possible that the cd itself could have caused this? wuzzzer
Could be the CD or something electrically on the same circuit that turned off/on.
Mighty Favog
"Pops" are usually heard when there is some sort of arching between two electrically charged contact points that are close enough together. This, in turn, is done while creating radio frequency waves that are heard through your speakers. Have you ever listened to AM radio when there is a lightning/thunder storm near by? The crackels and pops you hear through the radio's speaker are caused by the lightning (a VERY big arc!). A smaller example would be the power switch of a piece of equipment being turned off. In you case it sounds like something had enough of an electrical or static charge to find a nearby ground, not shure why though.
DRBILL
Bob, You don't really give us enough information to help you. So far, we know that it was out of one channel. Tell us everything that you observed including how loud was the pop. DRBILL
jcmusic
The pop was not very loud, but loud enough to hear during a low musical passage. As i stated before i was enjoying a cd when all of a sudden pop from the right channel. It did not affect the music or the system, everything kept right on playing and it has not happened again. Would this happen if a cap. went bad in maybe the power amp or the x-overs in my speakers.
NOSValves
Just pretend you were listening to a LP and forget it for now. Unless it happens repeatedly your going to have one heck of a time tracking it down. Craig
