LarryC
I see that some brave souls have posted an occasional classical piece here, and I'd like to suggest a great DVD where you can watch as well as listen to a great piece of classical music, for orchestra, chorus, and vocal soloists, under the direction of Georg Solti, one of the great conductors of the 20th century. The work is La Damnation de Faust by Hector Berlioz, performed by the Chicago Symphony Chorus and Orchestra and four great soloists under Solti, ArtHaus Musik No. 102-023. It's 136 min. long, but fascinating to watch either in parts or all the way through at once. I played two selections in Hope, just in audio (no video there), and people seemed to like it. This is a fairly good introduction to watching as well as listening to classical music, an important way of learning to enjoy it!!!
