seti
I haven't been able to get to the Moth Audio website for a long time now. I really enjoyed looking at thier amps it reminded me of something from Jules Verne or HG Wells book. Does anyone know if they went out of business? coda
Craig from Moth Audio spun off a new company a while back called Eddie Current that sells headphone gear and still stocks the Cicada driver. You can check out the Moth Audio Museum there, http://www.eddiecurrent.com

Rhadamanthus
All I can say about the speakers is WOW! He had some fun desiging the cabinets for the Empire and the subwoofer. They would look great in my Gotham City apartment.

My guess would be that Ray Moth only made the tacky-retro-rococo-art-deco-kitsch dressing. It was one of the worst sounding full range back loaded horn I ever heard. And let me tell you I've heard a lot! An expensive piece of sh!t if there ever was one.

Erik Mandaville
"It was one of the worst sounding full range back loaded horn I ever heard. And let me tell you I've heard a lot!" In other words, Bruce Edgar designed the worst back loaded horn you've ever heard. The veneer, whether it looks good to you or not, would have very little if anything at all to do with the sound. The Empire design wasn't particularly to my taste, either. I think the amplifiers are neat, and they have gotten very good reviews, as well. Inquring minds want to know. If-n-when I ever get my garage (workshop) cleaned out, I want to build a set. Rick

seti
Thanks for the response guys I am glad he is still around. I have never heard his amps or speakers but he has the design down I love the look of the amps and I always like the look of the sub. The tube nightlites are cool and I have been wanting some for my house but with a different design.

Erik Mandaville
Kaiser: "Good looking amp Erik (300B?) and not to shabby a speaker behind it" Thanks! Close on the tube -- the 300B's less powerful sibling, the 2A3 (in this case from AVVT) The amp is the Moth Audio Si 2A3. It was purchased just about the time Moth Audio started going in another direction. Erik

If-n-when I ever get my garage (workshop) cleaned out, I want to build a set. Rick A good ole Voight Pipe is a little experiment that will give you a lot of fun. But you'll get tired after a while. Like the Abbies, it's a "cute toy" but nothing more. It's really quick and cheap to build so it's a no brainer nonetheless. A Hedlund Horn is quite good. It's awfully complicated to build but it should turn out to be a conversation piece when finished because of the size. My favorite single back loaded horn is the Lamhorn 1.8 with the AER mk 1 full range driver. I've tried relly hard to prefer my previous Klipschorns, then my CW than these but I just couldn't. There is something with their presentation that really gets me hooked to them despite their "lack of bass".
