IB Slammin Posted January 11, 2007 Share Posted January 11, 2007 Carl, You and me both. Very early '80s and older Lux. Just love the big-*** SS power, warm tube sounding monsters. I run a tube pre and tube CDP into two SS Luxman M-117's in BTL. The 54 pound(per channel) ugly black boxes dumped around 1,300wpc into JC's dbb's at the Hope thing last summer. The room was bad, but I think that some folks got the drift. In my two channel system, (my only system) I run in the Luxman MQ60 PP tube power amps from time to time, very nice, but just for fun. This is only me, but the way that the M-117's slam the bottom can not be equaled by affordable SET or PP amps. AH! tube CDP, JMA line stage tube pre, Luxman SS M-117's X2, Alcorns (bastard CW's) with Altec 511b/902-16a, JBL 2404 tweets, ALK attenuators, custom JWC crossovers Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
