Eric H
Hi all, This is a great forum that I've used for a lot ofresearch before managing to grab a pair of '87 Cornwall II's (CBR)recently. The are very near mint and I love the sound. Iacted fast and got them off of craigslist locally for $650 asadvertised - first cornwalls I've seen listed locally since I startedlooking a few months ago. I'm considering rebuilding the xoversas documented in other threads and possibly adding some dampingmaterial (batting?) inside the cabinets like the oldercornwalls. The crossover has cheap caps and messy wiringand if I put my hand on the speaker I can feel which bass notes itresonates on. Not that they sound bad at all but it seems likemaybe there's some room for some tweaking.... any thoughts oradvice? Thanks! Eric H
Moderators dtel Posted January 20, 2007 Moderators Share Posted January 20, 2007 " This is a great forum that I've used for a lot of research before managing to grab a pair of '87 Cornwall II's " Good choice of speakers and a good deal, the bad part is now you will be addicted, it may be too late already. Smart move, there is a lot of good advice here, and it's free thanks to Klipsch.[] Welcome to the posting part of the forum, as far as the tweaking part your talking about, I will let others who know better answer that. Doc Robin
Congrats on the Cornwall's. Enjoy them for awhile before doing anything to them. You may find out they dont need any tweaking for your listening habits. If you do feel that some tweaking will help; then there are several here that can give some good directions. lighting guy
Eric, congrats on the Cornwalls! [Y] I was also speaking to Greg about buying those, but was torn. I think the hoarding instinct was grabbing me (and it was a GOOD price, especially for the Bay Area, I've seen them at $800-1000 on CL). I also live in Oakland and have a pair of '78 Khorns on a tube system (and a pair of Heresies sitting idle). You're more than welcome to come by and listen, and I'd love to see/hear your Corns. Shoot me an e-mail sometime! Let's ROCK! [<)] Darrell

jcmusic
Eric, Welcome to our little world, congrats on the corns. I would follow some of the advice you got from other members, don't do anything just yet. Just listen and enjoy them for awhile, get accustom to their sound and then decide if they need improvement. Eric H
Thanks all! I'll take your advice and not do anything withthem - there's no reason. At this point they have no problems andsound totally awesome so I will just leave 'em alone and enjoy themusic. Darrell - as you figured out these were indeed Greg'sspeakers. I've been looking for a pair of Cornwalls for quite awhile and these were the first ones I finally saw advertised in the bayarea so I emailed Greg within an hour of when his craiglist ad wasposted (lucky timing!). Greg later said he had many interestedparties which I don't doubt for a second... For the condition(NM+) and price I couldn't be happier. I was actually gettingnervous that some other buyer might offer more $$$ (that's how housesare sold around here, right?) so I moved fast and was pretty psychedwhen I pulled out of his driveway with the cornwalls! joemcten
Congrats on your Corns....I just grabbed 84 Corns for my self early last week for a song...I am loving them big time. I missed that big sound that I used to have on my 79 LaScala's. Enjoy them...
