Proko03
Just bought a pair of three-way Heritage Series Cornwalls. The woofers and tweeters are not centered. How should they be setup? Woofers centered, or tweeters centered? Appreciate an answer for has to be a really dumb question for you guys. proko03
Moderators dtel Posted January 23, 2007 Moderators Share Posted January 23, 2007 What ? Never heard of that. Probably will make no difference. Can you put a pic ?
Budman
if they are not centered they are called vertical cornwalls. made to lay on their sides if need be. i own 3 sets of them. these were made up to 1974. when you set these up in your room the tweeters should be on the outside. if you lay them on their sides the tweeter should be on the top. lots of people love to use one of these on its side for the center channel under the tv. between k-horns, belles , lascalas and cornwalls
mungkiman
Do the Mid horn and Tweeters parallel the long side of the cabinet? If so, I understand your question because you would have "vertical" Cornwalls. It may be a matter of preference, but I have my woofers closer together than my tweeters if that helps. Proko03
intertesting. They stand on matching risers, about two inches off the floor, so i guess they were meant, at least this pair, to stand upright, vertically. The tv idea is interesting too. But then, what to do with the other speaker... proko
Proko03
you got it. Are they a less prefered Corwall? proko
Budman
use the other one for a center on another home theater. do you have serial numbers from this set and what kind of finish or wood type are they ????
DoubleJ
The drivers arn't centered?? They must be factory rejects and they should be sent to me where they will fit in with all my other reject stuff!! [] Russ has summed it up really well for you in his post. Nice score and please post some pics if/when you can. JJ
Budman
they are more prefered because they are more rare ( last year built 1974 ) and they come in a matched set with the pie slice logos. yummy
Budman
the downside of vertical cornwalls is the grill is not removable from the front, the grill cloth is stapled around the motor board with at least 1000 staples and has to be unscrewed from the inside of the cabinet. if your grill cloth is stained or you don't like the color of the cloth this is a big job. you also have to make grill boards if you want to have them removable. edit. hey JJ that was a great answer, LOL
Good2BHome
proko03 Congratulations on the score!! Would you share some pictures (interior, exterior)? What are the serial numbers? Inquiring minds want to know. You really don't "own" Vertical Cornwall's you just take care of and enjoy them until the next fortunate caretaker comes along and pays you for the privilege. CaptnBob
I'd always heard the tweeter goes on the inside to minimize sidewall reflections. In practice, I'd imagine there's "not a dime's worth of difference."
