Brand new K-55-M midrange drivers on eBay ending soon

I see a brand new pair of K-55-M drivers (two-piece phase plug design) have only bid to $188.50 with less than 6 hours left.

Normally K-55-M sell for double that amount in used condition.

If you could even get K-55-M from Klipsch they would cost more than $632.92 (price Klipsch currently charges for a pair of the less desirable K-55-X - single-piece port phasing plug).

I guess I did good when I bought 2 pairs on 2 seperate occassions for 125 and 150 per pair. Probally because no one started a thread about the listing.

I think we even had a forum member buy a pair for 90 bucks in the last 60 days. Again, probally because no on started a thread about the listing.

Prices will go back to normal (125 - 150) for a pair of k-55-m's as soon as folks stop panic buying.

More and more of these are appearing as folks are parting out their beater industrial LaScala's.

One of the problems is folks who put up threads point to this stuff....the minute that happens...all hopes of getting a good deal are over.

Good tactic if you are selling stuff, work for ebay, or paypal.

Not good for folks who had bids in and was hoping for a decent deal.

btw, I just cancelled my bids. No sense in bidding against another forum member.

You folks that keep putting up threads point to stuff should check what these items finally sell for.

I don't think in any case you will find that your actions lowered the price.

And you certainly will find that you did not get any thank you emails from someoen who was looking for this stuff.

Geesh, do you think folks that need parts don't know where to look.

A decent deal is whatever the buyer is comfortable with.

What is your issue? More than you wanted to pay?

I'm trying to find a valid point in your message.

It's up to you to cancel your bid(s) for an item.

That'll make sure you won't pay too much.

Tactics....

I've paid more than an item is worth many times. I wanted it. So be it. I win.

If you choose not to pay that much good for you. Be a shrewd buyer.

I have a box of Puffs for you.

You are the same man that wanted to send me three thousand dollars to pick up a pre amp for you and after you found your piece never acknowledged that I even existed......It started out as a twenty pound box.....There's a thread somewhere to that effect.

I didn't mind being kicked to the curb but at the same time I'm not interested in listening to you whine about forum members looking out for one another.

We all don't think the same way. If Oldbuck was bidding on a pair of Mach Ones and although I wanted them I'd back down for my buddy.

When he won them he would tell me "Thank You" for not driving the price up.

You're the one with the dog eat dog mentality.

Relax and be friendly.

I couldn't agree more.

The more people who are aware of an item's availability the more people have an opportunity to bid what it is worth to them. Does it prevent individuals from getting bargains at the expense of others, sure it does. The only reason to cancel a bid because others might bid higher is because you know your bid is unreasonably low and will lose in the market. The market price is what people will pay, not what it can be stolen for.

Its fine to rejoice in a bargain. Its tiresome to hear complaints every time a bargain disappears because other interested hobbyists value an item more dearly.

meagain,

I cancelled my bids since I don't want to compete against forum members.

Not sure why folks like jacking up prices of ebay listings by posting pointers......the lack of thank you emails should be a hint that they are no ones hero's.

They can rationalize all they want.....individually or as a qroup....collectively....none of these folks have anything positive to show for this type of practice.

I still have a set from the 2 sets I bought at a decent price.  The other set I gave as a gift to a forum member who help me get a decent deal on an item I was looking for.

What if the seller is a forum member, who really needs as much as he can get out of the item? Maybe he needs to make a mortgage payment, pay for school books, whatever. I think it's good to see these things both ways. Ultimately, the market should decide the value (and it does).

No problem with that....if a forum member wants to post a thread about something they are selling it could work both ways.....they migh pick up some new bids....they will loose some existing bidders.  I'm sure not going to get into a bidding war.  I usally bail out of auctions if prices get crazy.  The good thing about posting a thread about an auction...you don't have to wait too bail...you can bail as soon as you see the thread.

This partcular item, went for 116 bucks more than the most expensive set I ever bought and 135 more than the least expensive set I ever bought as well as 170 more than the best deal a forum member recently obtained.

Fritz,

might be a good time to sell yours...[;)]

I think a lot of these NOS/NIB items go for a lot due to their (perceived) rarity and collectability. A scratched-up pair of these might function as well as this brand-new pair (I mean, in use, they're hidden from view). Same thing with that case of 6L6s. The buyer is probably an obsessive rich guy, who wants to impress his buddies. Or an online casino owner (anyone else notice the image of the Virgin Mary in that tube top? I don't mean Mary was wearing a tube top, if that's what you were thinking...).

"might be a good time to sell yours.."

If the dust ever settles in my Heritage madness sand storm....

I can't decide if I want to do 7.1 in-walls using Hersey parts......stay 2 channel and go mini-jubilees....keep my LaScala's.....and then there are family members who had santa bring them Hersey or Cornwall clones.

So I am still in the middle of the sand storm trying to find my way out.....big shortage right now are k-700 horns and k-22 woofers.
