JULIO IGLESIAS ONBOARD AS G550 ESTABLISHES CITY-PAIR RECORD:

International recording artist Julio Iglesias was onboard the G550

demonstration aircraft last month when it established a city-pair speed

record flying from Honolulu, Hawaii, to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic,

in just over 10 hours. During his career, Iglesias has sold more than 250

million records in different languages, released 77 records and performed

more than 5,000 concerts. He is awaiting delivery of two Gulfstream aircraft

- a G550 and a G450. "In the 20 years I've owned Gulfstream jets, I have

always been able to count on the reliability of the airplane and the support

of Gulfstream's service centers to meet my busy schedule," said Iglesias.

"Gulfstream jets offer the cutting edge in technology and unparalleled

performance. For me, the word 'Gulfstream' stands for both a superb

product and an outstanding company. It is an honor to be a member of

the Gulfstream family and a part of this recent record-setting flight." The

G550 took off from Honolulu International Airport at 8:17 p.m. on Jan. 12.

Piloted by Gulfstream senior international captain Larry S. Mueller,

Gulfstream international captain David E. Smith and international captain

Jack Mullican, the G550 flew east 5,106 nautical miles at an average cruise

speed of 0.85 Mach, landing at Punta Cana International Airport the next

day at 2:18 p.m. Flight attendant Karin OKelly provided in-flight cabin

service to Iglesias and his guests. Gulfstream has submitted an application

to the National Aeronautic Association to confirm this new city-pair record.

BTW.....a G550 and a G450 will set you back at least $80M.

Back in the late 1990s I was out of the country on business. It was
a messed up project. Customer flew in thier top technical people in a
G-5 or 6 cannot remember the name exactly. Engine was nearly the
diameter of the fuselage. A major fuel sucker.

I was heading home after 5 days on the project and they asked me
to stay for a 2:00 PM meeting. "Sorry I have a non refundable ticket I
cannot change" is the normal excuse I use to leave town.

They
decided I needed to stay and they put me in the one empty seat on the
private jet. Most likely never happen to me again, but it was way cool
while it lasted.

Tree huggers hate private planes but they are a blast. Wealth has its privilidge.

I just question Al Gore flying private and being so publicly, environmentally focused.
