Interesting testing software

This might be fun software to play around with.

In effect you make two recordings of something. Say two different

pre-amps or an original vs. MP3 copy of the original..etc...etc. The

software then basically correlates the two recordings and basically

subtracts one from the other so that you listen to the difference

between the recordings. In other words you hear only what is different

between the two recordings. This is pretty close to what the 2 channel

transfer function on my spectrum analyzer does.

Shawn,

Thanks for the link. That is absolutely fascinating. One could then have an objective source for evaluating any change (imagined or real) to the signal, from the introduction of power conditioners or even alternate cabling. Wow. As you mentioned comparing MP3 or CD audio, I'd like to check out different frequency rates for mp3 and compare to losless formats. It would be great fun to compare different power amps driven by the same preamp. Whoaa... just think about comparing any tweak imaginable.

looking forward to your comparison posts... [;)] Actually i'd be curious to seeing two measurements taken without any changes... just to see the variances in the test (PC) system...

Formica.... good eye. Multiple measurements on the same system without changes would indeed be necessary for a valid control.

Dee,

This thing looks simple enough that even I could use it! Man, it would be worth the price just to use it for room tuning.

maybe I am kiddng myself.........
