Technics SADA-10 A/V Reciever RUNS HOT!!!

APPLEBITE

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I just recently bought this amp based on all the good words I have heard about it, and the fact that I got it at such a good price ($400 can.). One problem is that is runs seriously hot, even when the amp isn't producing any audible sound. I have heard poeple say that you have to turn the "Noise Filtering" off, but I didn't see any mention of that in the manual (if this is referring to the VGCA, I don't have it on). The thing is that once the fan kicks in, it runs ice cold, but you have to be listening to music at a higher volume to turn the fan on. Has anyone modded the amp so the fan is always on, or simply added another fan?? How would I go about modifying the fan to always stay on with the amp on, or how to add a seperate fan that does the same. Sorry for making this so long, but I would greatly appreciate any help for making a great amp even better

All Technics receivers run hot. Not warm HOT. You can cure it by installing a computer cooling fan mounted to the original fan. You will need a voltage adapter. But running hot is normal for these.

This knda hot seems abnormal. My old Technics (though no were near as powerful) ran cold all day long, so I guess this is a new thing to see for me. Are there any How-To website on the net for doing these kinda mods????

Our store carried Technics receivers back when I sold audio gear, and they all ran hot too. I always told the customer the usual spiel that they need ventilation, but the warm operating temperature was in fact, normal. They were extremely popular - decent sound for poor man's prices.
