48n123w
I've come across a used Outlaw 950 Pre/Pro for $400. Anyone have experience with this unit? Should I jump on this or go 970 "b stock" $649 or 990 new $999? any suggestions appreciated, thanks
Arky
I'm very happy with my 990. It is outstanding for the cost. Outlaw has a forum on their site called the saloon. "Gonk" is the information man over there.

Fish
Both these units were very nice upon their release, the 990 still is no slouch for sound.I don't think however that I'd pay $1k considering that a whole new generation of prepros are on the horizon. dougdrake
I, too, am waiting for new pre/pro's to arrive that can process HDMI 1.3 and the new HD audio formats. I can't see investing in the current ones that do not have this support (for the most part). If I was pressed for a new unit now, I'd probably spend $1k on an AVR that DOES have that support and use it as a pre/pro.
SilverSport
If you don't have to have the latest and greatest...that is a VERY good price on the 950...I use this for my HT...the others might be a step up...970 small step and 990 bigger step...the last price I saw for a new 950 was $699 plus shipping...I am very happy with my 950 PrePro Bill
SilverSport
...one thing to consider is there is a TRANSFERRABLE warranty on the 950 if it has any time left on it...I believe they are warranteed for 5 years from date of purchase. rcarlton
I've seen B stock 990's for $899. The cheapest used price for a 990 so far has been $650 on the Home Theater Shack.
