Well, here is an idea; all the avatars are stored as named files in the Klipsch server farm. Let's say person #1 stores a file named "pix.jpg" and it is a picture of the letter "P". What happens when person #2 stores a file named "pix.jpg" (same name) but it is a picture of the letter "Q"?

Does the server accept the named file and overwrite the original or does it use a substitute name like "pix02.jpg"?

Would overwritting the original file change another's avatar?

Or are each individual's avatar files stored in separate directories so these things won't happen?

Anyone think of any other scenarios?

All this could be determined by a little experimentation...

It stores the file seperately. I upload the file "untitled.gif" all the time, but it has yet to replace an existing upload from somewhere else.
