Compared with the other brands' D cells, the Radio Shack D cell seemed to have low output, so the techs opened it up, only to find a C cell in a D-sized housing... The delta in manufacturring cost between those caps is trivial. Maybe as low as a penny or two or three. Where's the leverage? Funny though. And, makes a great picture. But true? Yeh, I was thinking it was probably apocryphal, too. One of those things, if it didn't happen like that, it should have. a decent gag pic, I think.
