djk Posted January 10, 2002 Posted January 10, 2002 I can set you up with the speaker parts.JBL 2350 radial horns with 2329 dual driver throats, you will need four 2440 for each pair of horns.I've got a few of the tweeters left.Klipsch bought the tooling for these a while back.No Empire woofers, have to substitute with JBL. fini Posted January 10, 2002 Posted January 10, 2002 Back in '76, he must have been quite the chick magnet with a rig like that! In the words of Shrek, "Do ya think he's compensatin' for somethin'?" fini Quote
Colin Posted January 10, 2002 Posted January 10, 2002 oh my god! 17 amps! wonder if he has time allignment problems - hope he went into audio design for private homes ... Quote
TBrennan Posted January 10, 2002 Author Posted January 10, 2002 Colin---Time alingment? I think he's within the range where it's not audible according to John Hilliard's experiments at MGM in the 1930s after the famous Eleanor Powell "double-click" tapdance incident. What I don't understand about the rig is the use of so many tweeters, I don't think it would take THAT many to keepup with a pair of 2440s. Evidently Burwen was VERY sensitive to high frequency distortion. Quote
Mighty Favog Posted January 10, 2002 Posted January 10, 2002 Aahhh!! the 1970's and Phase Linear 400's. Had two of them driving a pair of JBL L-300's. Probably why I have a little tinitus in my right ear. Only mine had Altec Lansing woofs. ------------------ Tom KLF-20 Mahogany (Cornell Hotwired) McIntosh C33 Preamp McIntosh MVP-841 CD/DVD Rotel RB-1080 Amp Yamaha PF-800 Turntable/ Sure V15 Type V Cartridge Ortofon VMS-30 mkII Cartridge Stanton 999SS Cartridge Yamaha K-1020 Cassette dbx 1231 EQ H.H. Tom Adams Posted January 11, 2002 Posted January 11, 2002 So was his system where they conducted the "Is it live or is it Memorex" test? I wonder if this dude had the power company come out and drop in a dedicated transformer for him?? Tom Adams Quote
