whatever55
Does anyone have this unit ? More importantly has anyone used this in place of the EV38 ? It looks like it would do the same thing ? Enlighten me
Arkytype
IMO the Behringer DCX2496 offers the best bang for the buck in a DSP-based crossover. It is 1/5 the street price of the EV Dx38. For prosound use, the EV might be a better choice in some applications but for home use, why pay more for less capability and fewer features? You can download the user manuals from both manufacturere's sites. http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pdf/man/m_182479.pdf http://www.electrovoice.com/productfamilies/26.html BTW, you'll need two of the EV units to split the audio three ways in a left/right loudspeaker array. The Behringer has six outputs which can be configured many ways depending on your loudspeaker configuration. The DCX2496 will be the next addition to my on-going Klipschorn upgrade project. While I'm quite happy with Al Klappenberger's ES crossovers along with the Trachorn and the Beyma tweeters, I've always wanted to hear the benefits of a 'time-aligned' crossover set up. You can get a refurbed DCX2496 from Musician's Friend for $225.00 or new for $270.00 with free shipping. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Behringer-ULTRADRIVE-PRO-DCX2496-Crossover?sku=182479V Lee
mark1101
I have one and did use it in place of the EV for active crossover, delay, and PEQ for 2-way active system in my avatar. I never had an EV in my system to compare sound quality, but the Behringer has far more features than you'll probably ever use. It is a real swiss army knife. For the money it gives you quite a bit of flexibility
PrestonTom
I definitely agree with the above advice. The performance is good for the price. However, I would be cautious about buying a refurbished unit, especially since the discount is not that great. Definitely more "dials and knobs" then you will ever need. -Tom
michael hurd
I own the unit in question, and have it utlized for sub crossover and also route my main loudspeaker signals through it for the addition of a high pass at the low end. Once you get a feel for how it operates, it is very flexible. The manual is not that great.... it details some generic situations. I would have to say it is the best $ 270 I have ever spent. And if so, how did you like it? Did you use it for active 3-way crossovering your Klipschhorn? Can buy a 125euro model, but got to be quick ö
