Dwturner
Hi from down-under, I can't beleive how difficult it is to try and buy a set of Klipsch speakers. I heard the RF3 in Brisbane 12 months ago and immeditay became hooked, but since that time it has become impossible to find a stockist in Oz. Almost all stores are letting Klipsch go off the stock list because of the HIGH cost. Klipsch just aren't competing here which I think is a tragedy for such a great product. My brother is flying to the USA in March so I decided I would buy an RC7 then and he could bring it home. I have now e-mailed 15 stores in different states without a single reply? I didn't even tell them I was an Aussie! I can't beleive how hard it is to part with my money for a great speaker.Would Klipsch be prepared to lower it's bottom line in outside countries in order to get a foothold here like B&W and Paradign has? Does anyone know of any stores in the California, Seattle area who will answer an e-mail? Is there any company in the States who will deal with me over the net? This is a genuine problem many folk outside the USA have. Sorry to be long winded and thanks for your help. fini
Dwturner, welcome aboard (abroad?)! The two speakers you mentioned are center channel speakers. Is this what you're looking for? If so, what are your main speakers? You may already know that it is most important when choosing a center speaker that it sonically match the fronts. Is eBay out of the question? Regards, mate! fini
Dwturner
Thanks for your reply. Sorry - I meant RF3 rather than RC3. My Mains won't match. They are British speakers - Rogers PS2. Lovely sounding speakers but lack bass. I hope to upgrade the lot over the next 18 months, (with Klipsch if I can buy them) it's just my centre speaker, a Tannoy, is my weakest link. I thought with the RC7 I could buy either the RF5 or RF7 depending on price and or availability. Ebay isn't out of the question - I am just wary of the Klipsch unauthorsied dealer warning. Colin
have U considered adding a home made sub-woofer (the cabinet really takes a lot of man-power and raises the price of a speaker)? ------------------ Colin's Music System Cornwall 1s & Klipsch subs; lights out & tubes glowing! Dwturner
Yes I have a mate who built a sub with very good results. I do have a Definitive Technology Pro sub 100 which was ok for the small place where I use to live but really isn't adequate in my purpose built H/t now. I just find it hard to beleive that no one in the States will sell me Klipsch speakers and most stores here in Oz are abandoning them when they are such excellent "Grand Prix" award winning speakers. Surely by not reducing their profit margin here in Oz Klipsch is abandoning a potential market to Paradigm, Polk Audio, B&W, Energy etc who are prepared to haggle and market themselves. Is there a Klipsch authorised US internet dealer who will sell to someone outside the States? Or is there an authorised store who will at least negotiate with me via e-mail for a domestic pickup by my brother in a few weeks time. Why is the retail hi-fi market regulated by areas to this degree? What has happened to free trade? DT
Bernard
Hey Dwturner, there is an authorized dealer in Sydney and they deliver free around Australia with purchurses over $1000. They have a good range but not very up to date with the RF series. There site is www.avsupplyco.com.au Hope this helps Ivan

He will give you a fair price and does work over the internet. I don't know for a fact if he will ship overseas but he may. He is closed on Sunday-Mondays. Dwturner
Much appreciated guys. Ivan - I go to Uni in Sydney a couple of times a year. I contacted the Klipsch rep in Sydney who said "Audio Connection was the only place to go and they had a pair in stock." I drove over to Audio Connection only to find that there was none in stock and the salesman wanted to know why I was interested in Klipsch when I could get "X", "Y" and "Z" for a cheaper price. I got the same response from Todds Hi Fi here in Brisbane who tried to pass off an old demo pair of Legends as new RF5's. (He truthfully didn't know the difference) They said they were giving Klipsch "the flick" in favour of the new top of the line Yamaha speakers. I haven't tried "AV supply" though but I will as I am back in Sydney in February. Thanks for the tip. Ben G Yes we could be long lost brothers separated at birth by an evil stepmother. I bet our own mother couldn't tell us apart. (Except I am probably slightly better looking.) Thanks Michael I have e-mailed 16 stores now without a reply but perhaps this will be my lucky day. Thanks for the help. Darryl
dougdrake2
Darryl - I know that International Long Distance can be expensive, but maybe just a quick phone call to a couple of the stores you emailed will answer your question: "Hi, say, I'm in Australia and I want to buy Klipsch speakers but no one carries them here locally. Can you help me?" If they say yes, tell them to check their email for a note from you and hang up. I don't mean to sound condescending (spell?), but I know that a lot of these stores aren't really "with it" in the e-commerce age... Good luck- Doug ------------------ My System
Dwturner
Thanks Doug - I will do that. I was hoping because of the cost and time difference I wouldn't have to wait to very early a.m. to ring but hey it may just be worth it. Besides its the only time in the day I can get to watch a Gridiron(?)American football game. Thanks for your reply. Darryl
