Marantz 2215 B

I picked one of these up recently. It needs new lights, and there is a little noise in the volume control. Other than that it sounds pretty decent. Has anybody here replaced the lights ? Is it very difficult?

I've had the 2215 but all the lights worked. I don't think it's a huge chore to change them, just take your time. I do believe they were blue though and I'm not sure where you would find them.

As to the volume control, try twisting it back and forth about 20 or 30 times (power off of course). If you've got the cover off to change the bulbs you can try spraying some contact cleaner into the pot, which you can get for $10 at Radio Shack.

Wait several hours with power off before fooling around inside because there's usually a lot of leftover power inside that can really straighten out your hair.

I have several Marantz "B" models - the lights are not difficult to change.

I suggest you check out Bob at http://www.vintage-electronics.cc/index.html - not all lights all lights are the same - the wrong ones will run very hot and can melt/warp the plastic shroud.
