What wire to use for long pre-out run?

I am considering using my Denon 3300 as a preamp, connected to a separate amp in another room with my Cornwalls. I already have run in-wall speaker wire between these two locations (mistakenly thinking the Denon had "B" speaker capabilities). My question is: would the existing speaker wire work as an interconnect between the Denon and an amp? If not (and why not?), what would be a good choice (not so much what brand, but what type of wire, i.e. coax, etc.)? Since it is a long run (~50' as the crow flies) I'm thinking bulk wire and DIY connectors.

Your Denon has no B speaker ability? That's hard to believe. Even my cheapo 681 can do that, and it does it quite well, with no loss of power to A or B.

I would recommend 22 gauge single conductor stranded cable with a shield. This will be considerably cheaper and easier to work with than any coax. Also, if you can find them, use switchcraft 3502 rca plugs. They cost a little more but are built much better than the stuff you find at radio shack and similar low end places....

Thanks, all. I'll be doing some reading and head scratching before I squirm around in the mud under the house with a couple of cables...
