Not a Rubin production but never the less it is a very good CD. I have been jamming on it for a few weeks now and like their past releases it has several real ear catchers but for me the album does a ramp up, what I mean as you get past track two the thing just seems to get better and better. I really think it kicks in with track 9 (Decibel) which sounds just like a ZZ Top track (vocals encluded) until it kicks in to over drive. For me the last five tracks just meld this whole piece of work together[;)]

I also got the new Metallica for my birthday last month and all I can say is the boys have stepped back in time to the beginning when the came at you hard, loud and fast[:D] If you like the Black album you are going to dig this one[Y]

I was so looking forward to this one, but as a long time fan, it doesn't hit me the way others did. The time period around the Back in Black album, Thunderstruck, even Stiff Upper lip - were all a little more elemental in their sound, clean, powerful stuff. This one seems to be too "layered" or something.

I know I'm not explaining this well, so lets try this - the beginning of back in black. (drums) Bomp, Bada Bamp, Bada Bamp - (guitar) dedoo dedoo dedoo. By contrast this album doesn't seem to have the raunchy garage sound.

Worth buying, yes. One of their best, no.
