Jdb Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I am replacing my KSW-12 with a RT-10d. I was wondering if it is safe for the speakers to hook them both up at the same time using a splitter. mostly just want to play but dont want to damage anything. thanks. jdb Quote
Moderators Youthman Posted November 25, 2008 Moderators Posted November 25, 2008 Absolutely. Each sub has their own amp so you are not drawing any current from the receiver and the ohm load is not effected. Use a Y and crank it up! Quote
wuzzzer Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 As long as you're using the RCA low-level (sub, LFE, etc) inputs you'll be fine. Quote
TheEAR Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 You can split several times the single sub out,I have four subs per sub ouput(at least!). The sub amp is doing the work,if you split you get less signal, compensated by the gain on the sub and you have the gain on the receiver/pre pro. Quote

That is how I got my own rig setup - a REL Storm III and a Klipsch RW-12d hooked up using a Y-connector out of the sub-out of the pre/pro. The subs themselves have thier own amplifier, so it is not like they are drawing any load on the reciever/amp, nor should effect the speakers themselves physically (only affects them sonically, in that giving you more bass). Heck yeah, go for it. If you still got it, might as well use it! Quote
Jdb Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 Thanks everyone, hooking them up tonight when i get home. Quote
TNRabbit Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Personally, I wouldn't use a y splitter. I'd simply go to the RCA input on the RT-10d then from the RCA out to the KSW-1. Quote
Eskimo1 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Nothing wrong IMO with a y-splitter, as long as the source can still supply enough clean signal... Quote
